From its intelligent design to its efficient cleaning performance, SmartMop redefines the future of hygienic living.

Our Foundation Story

The
Revelation
Moment

During our final-year project brainstorming, we debated renewable tech as a topic until an unexpected call changed everything. Mehul’s mother asked him to pick up a mop for their home. It struck us how, as tech students focused on advanced solutions, we hadn’t thought about smart, everyday tools. The ordinary mop seemed like a problem worth reimagining. When we discussed it with our professor, Dr. Sharath Chandra, he laughed and said, “Build one for my house too!” His encouragement sparked our journey.

Research &
Development

As we explored the market, we found that top-of-the-line mopping tech—a German machine—cost around Rs 40,000. Meanwhile, in the U.S., most people used the Swiffer, an affordable yet environmentally unsustainable option with disposable wipes. Swiffer’s success highlighted the demand for fast-clean, convenience and innovation, motivating us to create an eco-conscious, user-friendly alternative for India.

Our co-founders, Mehul and Yogindra, committed to designing SmartMop as a final-year project. After presenting at TiEPitchFest, we ranked in the top 4 out of 48 startups, earning a place in Mysuru’s Ktech incubation center. Balancing work and development costs was tough—Mehul took a job at The Math Company to fund expenses, while Yogindra continued prototype work. The effort paid off when we won funding through the Elevate program, enabling us to focus fully on SmartMop.

The
Balancing Act

To sustain our product development expenses, Mehul took up a job at The Math Company while Yogindra shouldered additional responsibilities for product development. Simultaneously, we prepared ourselves for the Elevate program, knowing that funding was crucial for us to pursue our vision full-time. Despite the demanding schedule, they emerged victorious and secured funding through the Elevate program.

Caspian comes back to
it’s HomeGround!

Caspian, then named ‘broomstick’ occupied a space the NIE Incubation Center and started hiring Young Engineering Grads into their team to build the product. These were undergraduates students who were still pursuing their Studies.

All of them were motivated with the fact they could build something World-Class and be the best in that Category across the Globe (which is also the story behind the name ‘Caspian’ - More on this later).

15 Months in, They get Technical Backing by Mathworks - Inventors of MATLAB and Simulink.

Folks from across the Industry (ISRO, L&T etc.) visit their office to look at their work and Finally they present the device in front of the world at Mysuru Blue where a panel of 4 VCs judge them as an Investment Worthy Start-up from Mysuru that should move towards Scaling.

For their Patented and Patent Filed Tech and being one of the Upcoming Startups from Mysuru, They were honoured by the IT&BT Minister of Karnataka - Shri Priyank Kharge and Shri Yaduveer Wadiyar - King of Mysore visited them at their Office.
